What to check before contracting with a Dubai tour operator
A contract with a Dubai operator is a contract with a legal entity, not with a website. These are the things a compliance team looks for, in the order they usually ask.
Licence and register numbers
Ask for the DET licence number, the commercial register number and the chamber of commerce membership, and verify them with the issuing bodies. A licensed operator publishes them; Rate Extra's are on the licensing page.
The contracting entity
- Which company signs and invoices, and in which jurisdiction.
- Whether any product is contracted through a different entity; for example, the Hotel API on this site is contracted with Safaryar Holidays in Istanbul.
- Governing law and the forum for disputes.
Settlement
- Currencies you can contract, invoice and settle in.
- Whether the model is prepaid; if so, how balance and statements are reported.
- What happens on a failed or rate-limited booking (nothing should be charged).
Data terms
- Who is controller and who is processor for traveller data.
- Retention periods and anonymisation.
- Which laws apply: UAE PDPL, GDPR, KVKK.
